Kayaking down the Broad River with the kids.

Happy 60th Wedding Anniversary

Today is my grandparent’s 60th wedding anniversary. As a gift to them I made a 8″ x 8″ scrapbook of my kids (mostly). In honor of my grandparents I am going to post one page a day from the scrapbook until I’ve shown it all to you. That is, while I am out of town visiting with them, that there are no technical issues! By the way, the words aren’t filled in yet because I need to get the spelling and grammer checked first (it’ll be in German).

Pictures from our last family celebration- my great aunt and uncle's 50th wedding anniversary, 2 years ago.

Background Medallion

In addition to playing with chipboard I’ve taken on background stamps and my first purchase was the Medallion stamp. I’ve had my eye on it for a while, but I just wasn’t sure what to do with it. I’ll continue to play with it, but I really do like the simplicity of this card and how it turned out.

Old Olive cardstock; VersaMark ink; Maine Blueberry designer series paper; Well Scripted and Medallion stamp sets.

Naked Chipboard, colored!

Another fun time with chipboard, this time I didn’t cover it with paper. I used the Bashful Blue ink to ink this guy up and I think it looks OK. It did take a while to dry though. The catalog (I noticed after the fact) does explain to use sponge daubers to color the chipboard, but that’s not the technique I used. I just pressed it on the ink pad- probably soaking up far more ink that was actually necessary.

Orange Wishes

Another card with the birthday stamp. As soon as I made this I had someone to send it too. That’s always the case for birthday cards around here.

Pumpkin Pie cardstock, classic ink, and ribbon; Island Oasis designer series paper; Birthday Block stamp.

Baby Fairies Too!

Another fairy card from the “A Little Bit of Magic” stamp set. I wasn’t sure how much I liked this set, but I’ve liked the cards I’ve made from it so far. This one was colored with the Stampin’ Pastels using the blender pens. I also used the pastels to soften the edges of the circles so the white didn’t contrast so much with the background. And the quote is from one of the new hostess sets in this year’s catalog (stamped with VersaMark and “colored” with pastels using a light dusting with a cotton swab).

Chipboard is a Hoot

I’m really taking to this chipboard and I especially like this owl. There is special owl in the new catalog that I can’t wait to order… I can say no more. This is a “thinking of you” type card, it’s always a good idea to have a few of these around.

Birthday a la Carte

From the summer mini catalog are a few a la Carte stamps- this is one of them (Birthday Block). Very cute birthday message. Paired up with the bright paper from the Island Oasis designer series it makes for a fun card.

Coordinating Stamp and Punches in Monochrome

For today’s card I wanted to use the stamps and coordinating punches to make a card. This stamp set is a hostess set from the Summer Mini catalog. It looks to me like SU is trying to match up  more stamps and punches in their catalogs, this will be obvious to you when you see the new catalog… not much longer now!

Not Quite Navy cardstock and classic ink; Whisper White craft ink; fancy flower, scallop circle, and 5-petal flower punches; Punches Posies stamp set.

Fairy Tales…

The summer mini catalog has a cute stamp set with fairies (A Little Bit of Magic). Here’s my first attempt with it and I really like how it turned out. Not only that, but the paper (Greenhouse Gala, available in the upcoming catalog) is nice too. The text stamp set (Occasional Quotes) is one of the hostess sets in the new catalog. I think I’m as excited about those as anything else, they are really nice. As a demonstrator I was able to purchase a level 2 and level 3 set. I plan to post more as it is created.

Sorry things are slower here than usual. With summer here my kids are home full time which keeps me busier. Also, my daughter and I are leaving this weekend for a 3 week stent to Germany to visit family. We are a busy bunch and this site will reflect that. I will try to have some posts published while I am away, but it might be slow.
